PORTLAND – Mike Burke, 24, of Lewiston, captured the men’s singles title in the 39th annual Maine Tennis Association Championships played this weekend at Fore River Tennis Complex. Burke defeated Will Hall of Cape Elizabeth, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, in the title match.
Top-seeded Brian Mavor of Yarmouth and Brian Powell of Kennebunkport beat second-ranked Ben Cox and Rafael Mittag of Vero Beach, Fla., 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, for the men’s doubles championship.
Other winners in the MTA major event were: Misha Mytar, women’s singles; Mytar and Helen Boucher, women’s doubles; Paul Perreault, men’s 35+ singles; Mavor, men’s 45+ singles; and Dick McLeod, men’s 55+ singles.
