LEWISTON — Artwork by 43 adults and children, all students of local art teacher Mercedes Gastonguay, will be featured in an annual exhibition in the Atrium Art Gallery at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

The exhibition of 74 works in oil, ink, pencil, pastels and watercolor will have a free opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 16,  and continue through Aug. 20.

 Students work from still lifes in the studio, on-location landscapes, photographs and works by well-known artists. The exhibition includes portraits, landscapes, still lifes, wildlife studies, seascapes and floral studies.

Joyce Gibson, dean of the Lewiston-Auburn College, will be the featured speaker at the reception. The Edward Little Music Association will provide beverages.

Students with work in the exhibition are (ages 9 and under): James Belleau II, Christine Chasse, Charlotte Gastonguay, Abigail Langelier, Eisa Lee, Emma Paquette and Shaelyn Poulin.

Ages 10-11: Dean Clavet, Anna Marie Cote, Larissa Dycio, Caroline Gastonguay, Matthew Forgues, Matthew Maguire, Ross Poulin, Shannon Roy, Sydney Sirois, John Van Dyke and Tawni Zamrock.

Ages 12-13: Lauren Belleau, Bella Bennett, Yolande Bennett, Johanna Cullenberg, Francesca-Beth Haines, Anya Lee, Jennifer McLean, Tabitha Porter, Max Poulin and Bernadette Racine.

Ages 14-18: Alex Hood, Kayla Larrivee, Sarah Patrie and Alexandria Wilson.

Adults: Ronald Bosse, Sue Caron, Janet DuBois, Selia Dubois, Lorraine Lamare, Marie Marquis, Claire Metivier, Mariette Pare, Michael Parker, Patricia Poulin and Colleen Rioux.

Gallery hours at Atrium Art Gallery, 51 Westminster St., are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Admission is free. For more information, call 753-6500.
