BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — A former Saco, Maine, school bus driver has pleaded guilty to being drunk as she was about to drive dozens of middle school students home.
Fifty-five-year-old Jan Mooney pleaded guilty Tuesday in Biddeford District Court to one count of drunken driving and two counts of endangering a child’s welfare.
The Portland Press Herald says that under the terms of a plea agreement, Mooney was sentenced to 120 days in jail, with 110 days being suspended pending completion of inpatient treatment.
Mooney was arrested Dec. 8 after a co-worker smelled alcohol on her breath and alerted police.
She was charged with drunken driving a second time the same day for allegedly driving herself home from the police station after saying she had arranged a ride.
