FARMINGTON — Bertha Irene Oliver, 83, of Farmington passed away July 14, at Sandy River Center for Health Care.
She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Gray, the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Adams) Searles. She was educated in the schools of Temple, Phillips, East Dixfield, New Sharon and Kingfield.
Bertha worked for Solon Manufacturing Co. in Solon, for five years before moving to New Sharon to work for Forster Manufacturing Co. in East Wilton for 18 years.
From 1977 until 1986, she worked for Farmington Shoe before going to work at DeCoster Egg Farm Co. Bertha moved to Leeds in 1986, then to Buckfield before finally moving to Farmington in 2007. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, working in her garden, fishing, camping, and spending time with her family.
Bertha is survived by two sons, Larry Berry and his wife, Barbara, of Industry and Joe Berry and his wife, Audrey, of Strong; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Olive McHugh of New Sharon; two brothers, Warren Searles of Florida, and Ralph Searles of East Dixfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Oliver; a sister, Phyllis Hamlin; and two brothers, Harvey and Everette Searles.
