Stephanie Meyer and J.K. Rowling have nothing on the Rev. Douglas Taylor. However, Sigmund Freud would have had a field day with Taylor’s recent letter (July 11).
The penetration of a bite and exchange of bodily fluids are in no way similar to losing one’s virginity. Does that mean I lost my virginity at my first communion and drank the blood of Christ?
The image of immortality is what Christians aspire to. As god-fearing Christians, we aspire to have everlasting life. Surely the Rev. Taylor knows that.
Sexuality is not about what we do but, rather, who we are as people, gay or straight. Humans have a need, a built-in desire to procreate. As humans, it is a part of all our lives. It does not lead to immortality, for only through God shall we have “everlasting life.”
True romance is moral, thoughtful and wonderful, even when the bad guy becomes good to win the heart of an angel. There is nothing more Christian than helping one who is evil become moral. Or wizards and witches who fight on the side of the light. There is never good without evil, light without darkness.
Book-burning, drawing sexual comparisons in the manner the Rev. Taylor has, are the fearful words of a charlatan, hell bent on shoving his idea of morality down other people’s throats. As is written, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing.”
