Festival benefit

LEWISTON — “Tommy’s Hard Rock Festival” will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, July 23, at Pelletier’s Banquet Hall, 711 Webster St. Entertainment will be by Jarosady, Midlife Krisis, The Blue Khakis and Jeremy Graham Ellis.

Tickets are $5 at the door. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar will be available. Proceeds will benefit Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends. For more information, call Norm at 650-8374.

Athlete training

AUBURN — The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department will offer free speed, quickness and agility training for anyone entering grades five to eight.

Alex Merchant will use his knowledge in physical fitness to help young athletes prepare for upcoming sports seasons. Each session will place an emphasis on stretching and safe conditioning for area youth looking for an aerobic challenge. Program will not include weight lifting or training.

Sessions will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 26 to Aug. 11, on the Pettengill Park baseball outfield. Register online through a link on the City of Auburn (Parks and Recreation) website or pick up a registration form at the Hasty Community Center, 48 Pettengill Park Road.

Fundraiser dinner

MINOT — A fundraiser dinner for the Kurt Theriault Memorial Scholarship will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at the West Minot Grange. Dinner will include spaghetti with meatballs, fresh salad, rolls, desserts and beverages. The suggestion donation for dinner is $10.

Raffle tickets will be available for prizes. All proceeds will go directly to the scholarship.

Weekend workshop

LITCHFIELD — Work of Heart, a nonprofit organization providing equine facilitated psychotherapy and experiential learning, will offer a workshop entitled “Horse Power and Inner Peace: Horses as Mentors” on Friday to Sunday, Aug. 6, 7 and 8, at Upper Pond Stable.

The workshop will focus on coming to stillness, connecting with nature and one’s own body, restoring energy and playfulness and learning about relationships. All activities will be unmounted and no riding experience is necessary. The workshop schedule is Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. with dinner provided and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m with lunch provided. The cost is $350.
