TURNER — Fire destroyed a home at 42 Fern St. early Thursday morning.

A neighbor called 911 shortly after 1 a.m., but the home was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived at 1:20 a.m., Fire Chief Michael Arsenault said.

At the time of the fire, the owners, Ami-Jo Arsenault and Jeff Merrill, were camping with their children at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford for the TD Banknorth 250 race. Nobody was in the home.

The 2½-story home was a total loss and the detached, three-car garage was heavily damaged, Michael Arsenault said.

An investigator from the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office was looking into the cause and the area of origin of the fire, he said.
