The State Police are on the lookout for a sexual offender who failed to show up to jail to begin a 3 and a half year prison term.
According to a press release, William Stein, 60, failed to report to Kennebec County Hail on June 11 to begin his sentence. He pled guilty in June to one count of gross sexual assault and four counts of unlawful sexual contact in Kennebec County Superior Court. According to the release, the vicim was a young child.
State Police, the Kennebec Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service have been looking for Stein for the past month and are now asking for the public assistance, according to the release.
Stein is 6 feet, 1 inches tall, weighs 270 pounds and has hazel eyes, brown thinning hair with a goatee and a moustache. His last known address was 6 Oxford Street in China Lake Mobilehome Park in Vassalboro.
