AUBURN — Sarah E. Grenier, 75, of Auburn, passed away on Friday, July 16, spending her last days at the Hospice House in Auburn where they kept her comfortable.
She was born on May 17, 1935, in Lewiston, a daughter of the late William E. and Gladys E. Thurston of Danville, at what is now Central Maine Hospital.
She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1953. She worked many years in the nursing field in many hospitals, as well as the one in which she was born. She lived mostly at the farm on the Foster Road, where she raised her kids and lived her passion for farming and gardening.
When she retired, she found her gift of quilting and made many beautiful quilts. Sarah enjoyed the time she spent with her family. She will be missed. Sarah will always be remembered for her strong will and independence.
She is survived by five children, William McNally and wife, Donna, of New Gloucester, Deborah LeClair of New Gloucester, Allen McNally and wife, Maryanne, of Mechanic Falls, Steven McNally and wife, Kandy, of Norway, and Mark McNally of Auburn; along with nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” McNally; her late husband, James Grenier; and two brothers, Owen G. and Charles L. Thurston.
