OXFORD — The Oxford Hills School District Board of Directors is expected to accept the resignation of an assistant principal and appoint a new assistant superintendent at Monday night’s meeting.
Jan Gauger, who was appointed assistant principal at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in August of 2005 and currently serves with Assistant Principal Paul Bickford, has tendered her resignation effective July 29 to move to a new post in Salem, N.H., where she will serve as dean of students.
Gauger said the position is similar to the assistant principal position she now holds. Interviews are expected to begin to find her replacement this month.
The board is also expected to hear and vote on a recommendation from Superintendent Rick Colpitts on a new assistant superintendent.
An advisory committee was established several months ago to oversee the interview process and make a preliminary recommendation to Colpitts, who began his tenure as the Oxford Hills School District superintendent on July 1 after the retirement of former Superintendent Mark Eastman.
The advisory committee comprised a wide spectrum of people including school members of the Board of Directors, mid-management and central office employees, Colpitts said.
Although the salary is negotiable, officials have budgeted $79,000 in the new fiscal year budget to pay for the position.
The money includes some federal dollars to pay for part of the assistant superintendent’s responsibility to administer federal homeless and drop-out programs.
