Brettuns reunion

CHESTERVILLE — A reunion will be held for the children who grew up together in the 1960s and 1970s in the town of Brettuns, also called Livermore. It will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 25, on the farm of Ray Buck, a childhood resident of Bowles Road.

Buck will provide hamburgers and those attending are asked to bring something to share on the buffet table. Attendees should also bring lawn chairs, drinks and if available, a shade tent or portable gazebo.

Documentary

LEWISTON — The Western Maine Labor Council will host a free viewing of T.R. Reid’s “Sick Around the World” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the IBEW 567 Union Hall, Goddard Road.

The short semi-documentary explores the health care system of five different nations.  There will be a small barbecue before the showing and all are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Joseph Mailey at 786-3750 or e-mail [email protected].

Walking club

AUBURN — The Lewiston-Auburn Walking Club meets at 5:15 p.m. every Tuesday, at Greater Brunswick Physical Therapy, 2 Willow Run, behind the Residence Inn.

The meetings will start with an educational session for about 15 minutes and then participants will drive to a nearby location for a walk of 15 to 20 minutes. For more information, call Katy Taylor at 784-6462.

New Auburn Seniors

AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors will have a meatloaf dinner at noon Wednesday, July 21, in the St. Louis Church basement hall. The cost is $4 and for members only. The regular meeting was held July 7 with President Virginia Levasseur presiding. July birthdays were noted and small gifts were given.

A two-day trip to Foxwoods is planned for September. For more information, call Jean at 784-5264. Pot of gold winners were Jeanette Potvin, Romeo Lepage, Rosie Alexander, Pauline Gemme, Rose Small and Ben Adler; 50/50, Jean Paul Poulin. The meeting was adjourned, a light lunch was served and bingo followed.

Open bingo for seniors 60 and over will be Wednesday, July 28. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Aug. 4.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on July 13 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry; second, Mary Anne Trafton and Katyhleen Burden; third, David Lock and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; fifth, Ron and Connie Reynolds.

Flight B winners were: first, Mary Anne Trafton and Kathleen Burden; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; third, Ron and Connie Reynolds. Flight C winners were Mary Anne Trafton and Kathleen Burden. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the center.

The club also met on July 14 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Fred Letourneau and Sherry Hinckley; second, Mike and Pat Qunn; third, Bob Berry and Lucille Theriault; fourth, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus. Winners in Flight B were Mary Anne Trafton and Linda Leotsakos.

Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at both games and both sites are air-conditioned. For a partner or further information, call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.

First Auburn Seniors

AUBURN — The First Auburn Seniors will meet at Wednesday, July 21 at the Hasty Community Center. The regular meeting, conducted by President Angie Jipson, will be at 11 a.m. Members are reminded to bring utensils and cups. Bingo will follow lunch.

Meal tickets will be on sale for $5 for the summer picnic to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the community center. The meeting on Aug. 4 is Bring A Friend Day. If any member is in need of card or flowers, contact floral chairwoman Pat Records at 795-9088.

Forty-seven members attended the meeting on July 7. Attendance winners were Irene Fraser and Gerry Brushwein; pot of gold, Cecile Bourgoin, George Harris and Marilyn Redmun.

Mary Ray and Jack Jipson were welcomed as new members.
