Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, a Greene nonprofit that cares for feral cats in the Lewiston-Auburn area, will host a concert Friday and a yard sale next week in an effort to raise money for veterinary costs.
Tommy’s was started 26 years ago by Norm Blais after he lost his own once-feral cat, Tommy. Since then, Blais and volunteers have cared for thousands of feral cats, most often feeding, sheltering and spaying or neutering them. When it can, the group also domesticates the cats and finds homes for them.
Tommy’s is currently caring for about 500 cats, including 10 cat colonies throughout the Lewiston-Auburn area.
“I constantly see new cats every night,” Blais said.
On Friday, from 8 p.m. to midnight, Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends will host a fundraising concert at the C and J Hall on Webster Street in Lewiston. The benefit concert will feature hard rock bands Jarosady, The Blue Khakis, Midlife Krisis and Jeremy Graham Ellis. The event will include a cash bar and refreshments to purchase. Tickets will be $5 at the door.
On July 30 and 31, Tommy’s will also host its annual fundraising yard sale in a lot on Route 202 in Greene, across from Hurricane’s Cafe and Deli. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Proceeds from both events will help Tommy’s pay for medical care for its animals.
