DEAR SUN SPOTS: Once again, Creative Sewing Center is asking for the community’s help with Project Christmas Stocking. We will be making and filling Christmas stockings for children who are currently up for adoption throughout Maine.

Our goal is to make as many as we can by Dec. 1 and fill them with stocking stuffers. Free patterns for the stockings are available at our store. We would also welcome donations of Christmas fabric, batting and stocking stuffers.

On Wednesdays, Open Sew Studio (from 1 to 4 p.m.) will be free for anyone wanting to participate in making stockings. If you would like to make some at home, they can be dropped off at Creative Sewing Center, 730 Center St., at the Auburn Plaza (next to Big Lots).

Anyone interested in more information, please contact us at creativesewme@gmail.com or call us at 782-5922.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their generous support in making pillowcases for the Pillowcase Challenge. Thanks to your help, we have already exceeded our goal of 500 sewn pillowcases by Dec. 31!

They are being donated to hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and shelters in our area. If you would like to make pillowcases, we also have free patterns for these.
