LEWISTON — Richard A. Hebert, 73, of 85 Old Lisbon Road, died Sunday, July 18, shortly after arrival at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lewiston, Oct. 29, 1936, a son of the late Edward and Jeanne Bouchard Hebert. He graduated from St. Dominic High School, Class of 1954.
Mr. Hebert was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church and served in the U.S. Army Reserve’s Medical Unit.
He was president of Hebert Construction Co. and retired in 2001.
Dick started out in business with his father in 1955 — just out of high school, and has left a legacy in the community that will endure and grow for many years to come.
Dick served as chairman of Sister of Charities Health Care System, a board member of Mid Maine Bank, and a current board member of the Lewiston Economic Growth Council.
He enjoyed the simplest things in life — hunting, fishing on Moosehead Lake, tending to his garden, and just being outdoors or in a hockey rink with his close friends and family.
Richard’s love was contagious, he loved with such passion and energy it was impossible to ignore. For those who were lucky enough to experience it, his love was something that can never be replaced.
Richard will be remembered for many things, but most of all for being the greatest husband, father, and grandfather anyone could ever have been blessed with having. He was a man who would do anything for anyone without hesitation.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mariette R. Fournier of Lewiston, whom he married June 28, 1958; his son, Michael R. Hebert and wife, Lisa (Costello), of Greene; his grandchildren, Simon and Alexandra Hebert of Greene; his four sisters, Louella Fortunato and husband, John, of Minot, Joanne Poulin and husband, Robert, of Lewiston, Barbara Moreau and husband, Maurice, of Jay and Gloria Grenham of Lewiston; his brother, Dan Hebert and wife, Linda, of Lewiston; and his brother-in-law, Fernand Fournier and wife, Anita, of Lewiston.
