AUBURN — Waito R. Koskela, 88, of South Woodstock, died July 18, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.
He was born in Woodstock, Nov. 13, 1921, the son of Edward and Tilda (Kettunin) Koskela and was educated in local schools. Waito was a farmer and a logger most of his life, and had worked at the South Portland Ship Yard and as a cabinet maker at Cornwall’s.
He is survived by three sons, Waito E. Koskela and his wife, Patricia and Shirley Koskela and his wife, Judith, all of Woodstock and Kenneth Koskela and his wife, Theresa, of West Paris; five daughters, Dianna Jackson and her husband, Philip, of Auburn, Martha Lavoie and her husband, Clifford, of Minot, Deborah Purcell of Lewiston, Katrina Thibeault and her husband, Michael and Beth Verrill and her husband, Peter, all of New Gloucester; sister, Mirja Rainey of West Paris; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Douglas; one brother, Taisto Kaskela; and one sister, Helvi Hale.
