LEWISTON — Alice J. Lever, 88, of 81 Marble St., died Monday, July 19, at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Nov. 27, 1921, a daughter of the late Anatole and Blanche Rancourt Roy. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High, Class of 1940. In October 1944, she married G.W. “Bill” Lever and together they raised six children. In the early years, her home was always the neighborhood gathering place for her kids, their friends, and relatives she took care of.
She enjoyed cheering her sons high school basketball games, watching the Red Sox and the PGA with their poodle named, Pippen.
Alice was a people person, socializing, teasing, and making sure gatherings were always fun. She will be remembered for her dry sense of humor, quick wit and “tell it like it is” personality. In her later years, Alice preferred staying home, reading, smaller gatherings and the weekly visits with her baby sister, Marcy, where they’d reminisce over a beer “with salt in it.”
She is survived by her husband, G.W. “Bill” Lever of Lewiston; her daughters, Sandra Mynahan and husband, Patrick, of Poland, Lynn Lenhert and husband, John, of Auburn and Jaime Bolduc and husband, Tom, of Lewiston; her sons, Roy Lever and wife, Kathy, of Westwood, Mass., Jeff Lever and wife, Tammy, of Chandler, Ariz., and Scot Lever and wife, Jennifer, of Goffstown, N.H.; her grandchildren, Erica, Arianne, Zack, Shannon, Sam, Justin, Meagan, Meredith, Amanda, Joseph, Breanna and Max; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pauline Roy of Sabattus.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Brendan Mynahan; her sister, Marcy Dubay; and brothers, Roland, Jean and Normand Roy.
The family wishes to thank Alice’s god-daughter Jeri Wade for her continued care all these years and Deanna at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
