Benefit supper
AUBURN — A benefit supper will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, for Joshua Kennedy, a member of the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department. The meal will be held at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St., for Kennedy, father of three young boys, who has been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5, children/senior citizens; free, children 4 and under. The meal will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, coffee/punch and dessert. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and music.
Kennedy has served in the U.S. Army since 2002 and for the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department for three years. Staff is raising money for the family to go on vacation.

Puppet-making
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free puppet-making workshop for parents with a connection to cancer and their children, ages 3 to 8. The workshop is scheduled for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room D.
Parents and children will create their own fleece puppets that represent strength, hope and healing.
The offering is part of the Dempsey Center’s Healing Tree Children’s Program and will be led by Children’s Program Coordinator Tookie Bright, LMSW-CC.

Busy Bees event
POLAND — The Busy Bees, a charitable nonprofit organization, will host an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the “Old Schoolhouse” on Bailey Hill, Everett Road. AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its 15th annual lobster salad luncheon for the life members at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. A short program and presentations will be presented after lunch.
Audubon talk
WINTHROP — The Bailey Public Library will host wildlife biologist Susan Gallo at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3.
With more than 12 years of experience in wildlife monitoring, conservation policy and land/forest management, Gallo will give the Maine Audubon presentation, “Maine Wildlife on the Move.” Gallo works as a wildlife biologist with Maine Audubon and is director of the Maine Loon Project.
