Several seventh- and eighth-grade world languages students from Monmouth Middle School attained national and state recognition for excellent performance on the 2010 National Spanish Examination and the National French Contest. More than 125,000 students in the U.S. participated in the National Spanish Exam in 2010 and more than 100,000 students participated in the National French Contest, with over 200 from Maine. Students from Monmouth Middle School are taught by Spanish/French teacher, Jane Brogan.
