NORTH NEW PORTLAND — The public is invited to make a pilgrimage to the Anglers Sunday Service at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the North New Portland Community Church.

The Anglers’ Service is a special worship service dedicated to celebrating the beauty of the Lord in the great outdoors of the Upper Kennebec River Valley. The original Anglers’ Sunday Service was first held in the 1930s and 1940s at the First Congregational Church in Bingham, where Arthur Macdougall Jr. was the pastor.

At the special Anglers’ Service, an original story from Gary Cobb, proprietor of Cobb’s Pierce Pond Camps of Pierce Pond, will be told and a reading of a story about Dub Dean, a fictional guide and outdoorsman of the upper Kennebec River Valley, written by Arthur Macdougall Jr., will be related.

Everyone is welcome. For more information, call the Rev. Planting at 778-4705.
