I am not sure what makes me more angry — the many votes by Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe that go contrary to conservative values or the arrogance and total ineptness of President Barack Obama and his administration.
I do know that the senators’ vote for the Dodd-Frank bill was a huge mistake that they will live to regret big-time.
A Wall Street Journal review of the bill (July 14) spells out some of the disastrous aspects of the bill and sums up the review by saying, “A good definition of a bad bill is one that the authors are rewriting even before they pass it.”
How could those two seasoned Washington veterans vote to pass a bill that will generate some 240 new regulators whose career bureaucrats will write the rules with no accountability?
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were largely responsible for the financial meltdown, yet they get off scot-free in the so-called reform bill.
The bill will affect every single financial transaction of every person in the country. These regulators will get to know and control every aspect of our lives. They will know how much we earn, where we spend it, what we eat, what we drink, what kind of cars we drive and even where we drive them. Again — with absolutely no accountability.
I am sure our two senators know how bad this bill is, and they sure do owe us all an explanation.
