Basic aid training

LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will hold an American Red Cross basic aid training for children ages 9 and 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 5 and 6.

The training will give children the knowledge to help an injured or ill person until advanced medical personnel arrive.

School reunion

LEWISTON — A Holy Family School reunion will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St. Anyone who attended Holy Family School on Sabattus Street is invited to attend.

The open house will be $10 a person, payable at the door. Hors d’oeuvres will be available.

The committee is hoping to see alumni from every year the school was open, 1927 through 1973. Members are also looking to have multi-generation families of HFS attend as a special highlight.

The committee asks people to bring mementos/souvenirs to share of years spent at the grammar school.

Accepting requests

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation announces that it is accepting grant requests for the 2010 fiscal year.

The foundation annually awards grants to individuals and organizations who provide services to children in the Lewiston-Auburn community. Some of the grant recipients of the past year were Healthy Smiles for Maine, Community Little Theater’s Youth Summer Theater Program, New Beginnings Family Mediation Program and Sherwood Heights Birthday Books Program.
