WATERVILLE — The Department of Maine, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, met on June 25 at the Fireside Inn for their 98th annual convention. Members attending were from Tents in Abbott No. 23, Stoneham No. 19, Norway No. 8 and Bryant Pond No. 17.

Past National President Gail Butterfield brought greetings from the National President and Jack Battick brought greetings from the Son of Veterans of the Civil War.

Mary G. Jones was elected as treasurer with Gail Butterfield as assistant and Nancy Battick as council member two. Other officers remained the same for one more year.

President Michelle Cary was presented a corsage from Judith Grover of Tent 17 and a love gift from all tents. AJ Cary was presented a vest from DUVS Chairwoman Elsie Bonney, for her achievements this year.

Next year’s convention will be held on Saturday instead of Friday as usual.
