100 years ago, 1910
Three parents were arraigned Saturday afternoon before Recorder Kelley in the Lewiston Municipal Court charged with violation of the child labor law. Through their attorney they pleaded not guilty and waived a hearing and were bound over to the grand jury on $100 bonds each. The men arrested are Narcisse Lapointe, Martial Lavoie and Eugene Lebel. The complaint was made by George E. Morrison of Saco, state inspector of factories.
50 years ago, 1960
A total of 27,300 persons in the Lewiston-Auburn metropolitan area, 200 above the same period in 1958 and 500 more than in mid-May, were employed on nonfarm jobs in mid-June, according to the Maine Employment Security Commission.
Leather and leather products manufacturing establishments showed the way, adding 300 jobs. Trade establishments added 200.
Statewide employment increased by 12,400 between mid-May and mid-June, to a total of 286,000 nonfarm jobs.

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Economic Development Office is working in conjunction with several other local agencies in promoting the raising of rabbits for meat, fur and other by-products.
A letter sent from Richard L. Barr, Franklin County Extension Service agent, states a great deal of interest has been generated in the past few months regarding commercial rabbit raising in Franklin County.
