GREENE — Joyce Dubay, 65, of Greene, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Thursday, July 22.
She was born on July 14, 1945, to Gloria and Archie Dubay, the third of six children. She grew up in Lewiston, where she attended school and graduated from Lewiston High School.
In 1966, she married Bernard Parker, and they soon started a family and moved to Greene. For the last several years, she lived in Greene with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Over the years, Joyce excelled in anything that involved creating with her hands. She made beautiful wedding cakes, knitted and crocheted for the entire family, sewed wedding dresses, made stained glass lamps and window panes, enjoyed creating cards and jewelry, and any new craft idea that came her way.
She would make her grandchildren’s prize-winning Halloween costumes and knit everyone a new sweater for Christmas each year. When anyone needed something fixed, they went to Grammy. When anyone needed help with a school project or craft, they went to Grammy. When anyone ran out of something, they went to Grammy. She could always fix, create, or supply the rest of the family with whatever they needed.
Joyce was a lover of animals, especially her cats. She would give her last handful of change to one cause or another that benefited them. She would take in strays if needed and gave them a home fit for royalty. No expense was spared for her cats, even if it meant that she did without. She also enjoyed watching and then identifying all of the various birds that would come to her feeders.
Joyce was happiest spending time with her family and friends. She loved having lunch each week with her brother, Dennis, and his wife, Pauline. She looked forward to craft days with her friend, Sharon and lunches with Carol. In the summer, she would spend hours on the deck around the pool having bar-b-cues with her family. She was very proud of her family and could often be heard praising their accomplishments to others.
Joyce leaves behind her daughter, Christine Vincent, son-in-law, Dorian, and their five children Chelsea, Kylie, Keefer, Tanner, and Logan, all of Greene; her son, Michael Parker of Lewiston; his daughter, Caitlin of Greene; five siblings including her brother, Dennis Dubay, his wife, Pauline, of Lewiston and their children Michelle, Denise, and Randy; and her dear friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
