RUMFORD — Norwood S. Waterhouse, 94, of Highland Terrace, Mexico, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Sunday, July 25, at the Rumford Community Home.

He was born in Poland, Aug. 18, 1915, the son of Archer and Florence (Stevens) Waterhouse and graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, Class of 1937.

He worked for more than 28 years, until retirement in 1977, from Mead Paper Co. in Rumford as a runner on the rewinders. He had attended the Rumford United Methodist Church, was a member of the Mead Paper Co. 25-Year Club and enjoyed woodworking.

Norwood was formerly married in Norway on June 19, 1940 to Marquerite Hinkley and later married in Mechanic Falls, Dec. 23, 1968 to Mary Frost Gogan, who survives of Mexico.

Other survivors include sons, Duane Waterhouse and wife, Gemma, of Rumford, Dale Waterhouse and wife, Johanna, of Lubbock, Texas, and Lauris Waterhouse and wife, Maureen, of Raymond; daughter, Cheryl Gallant and husband, Gerard, of Stratton; stepsons, Jerry Gogan and wife, Jacqueline, of Farmington and Allan Gogan of Canton; stepdaughter, Nancy French of Brewer; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and sisters, Norrine Wilkins, his twin, of Lewiston and Jane Torrey of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a brother, Archer Waterhouse Jr.; and sisters, Clara Edmundson and Helen DeCoster.
