POLAND —A Poland man has been admitted to a local hospital, suffering from stab wounds inflicted at his home at 122 Harris Hill Road early Tuesday.
A fire was reported at David Hodgkin’s home around midnight, and flames were knocked down by 1 a.m. by a number of responding fire departments.
Authorities discovered the injured Hodgkin as they responded to the fire call.
As firefighters were battling the flames, officials were tight-lipped about what was going on at the home. Two Sun Journal staffers and one other journalist were prevented by officers from getting near the fire scene in the early morning by officers who cited safety reasons.
Neighbors reported hearing what sounded like two gunshots about the time the fire broke out.
Later Tuesday morning, an investigator with the Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire started in the kitchen, but declined to release the cause of the fire.
