RANGELEY — Amateur mycologist Michaeline Mulvey will present a walk and talk on “Mushrooming” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the Wilhelm Reich Museum. The workshop, intended for all ages, will be the fourth free workshop in the summer series at the museum.
Mulvey is a member of the Maine Mycological Association from Brunswick. She has been a presenter for a number of years, and this has always been a very popular workshop, according to a museum representative. A large variety of mushrooms can be found on the trails at Orogonon.
Bonnie Clark, the Natural Science Program coordinator, said participants should dress appropriately for the weather and walking in the woods and meet in the outdoor classroom near the museum at 2 p.m.
Attendees should drive to the museum and walk in on the trail marked “Tomb.” Insect repellent and water is strongly advised. Participants may also want to bring materials for taking notes or nature guidebooks, depending on the topic of the day. Program brochures are available at the museum office and around Rangeley and include information on other workshops and trail maps.
The Observatory building, which details the life and work of renowned physician/scientist Wilhelm Reich, is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday during July and August and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays in September. The adult admission fee is $6 and children 12 and under are free. Use of the trails at Orogonon are also free.
