PARIS — The Fox School Farmers Market in Paris has announced the addition of two new members: Hummingbird Farm in Turner and Bread and More Bakery in Mechanic Falls.
The market is at 10 East Main St. and is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Sept. 25. It provides fresh, organically grown summer produce and more.
According to information provided by Jamie Cypher of Otisfield, Hummingbird Farm is best known for its extensive varieties of clematis and will bring a selection to the market each week, along with some culinary herbs in potted and fresh-cut form. They will present an “herb of the week” and provide some growing instructions and recipes to try at home. They also offer herbal soaps and lotions and some unusual geraniums.
Bread and More bakes everything from scratch with all natural ingredients and no preservatives, Cypher aid. At the market, patrons will find a selection of more than 40 types of the “comical breads:” pepperoni & cheese, cheddar and jalapeno, rhubarb wheat, olive sourdough, sun-dried tomato and basil, and black bean and salsa, and more. Bread and More also bakes the standard white, wheat and cinnamon breads, scones, cookies, pies and whoopie pies.
Patrons are urged to visit the market and talk to the farmers who grow the food. Supporting the farmers market keeps money local and allows the farmers to help support other local businesses, Cypher said. For more information, contact Pat Verrill at 674-5903.
