ROCKPORT — Joshua Charest of Lewiston was awarded the Harold Nelson and Irving Small scholarship by the Maine Innkeepers Association Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association, at the annual Tees and Textbooks Scholarship dinner at the Samoset Resort.
Charest is attending Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., where he is studying engineering. An outdoor enthusiast and biker, Charest hopes eventually to become an astronaut. He is accustomed to heights, having biked to the top of Mount Washington.
The $500 scholarship awarded to Charest is named for Harold Nelson and Irving Small, founders of a New England wholesale distributing company, and was sponsored by Nelson and Small Inc.
