AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will launch the latest segment of Group Power, with a week of free Group Power classes open to members and nonmembers. The summer release will feature new music, new exercises and new programming as the YMCA continues to develop the first nationally certified program in Maine and New Hampshire.

Group Power is a 60-minute strength training class that strengthens major muscles in a motivating group environment with great music and nationally certified instructors. With simple movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls, Group Power is for all fitness levels.

“This program has created an incredible amount of participation among our members with lots of positive feedback,” said YMCA Wellness Director Tish Caldwell. “One of the great things about Group Power is that throughout the year we will be launching fresh and exciting new classes. This keeps all of our instructors and participants motivated and makes for an invigorating workout. Group Power is a challenging yet achievable program that is ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels.”

The YMCA will launch the “Summer 10” program Aug. 2 to 8, with free classes open to the public. Twelve Group Power classes are offered each week, along with more than 30 other exercise classes. Visit www.alymca.org for Group Power class times. Anyone making their first visit to the facility may also try any of the group exercise classes for free. The YMCA is located at 62 Turner St.
