WILTON — A game, G-Force Laser Tag, is coming to Wilton on Sunday.
The northern Maine game provider will bring equipment to either set up in Kineowatha Park if the weather is good or at Western Maine Expo if it’s not, town recreation director Frank Donald said.
The game uses a vest that, once hit by a laser gun, lights up and the person knows they have been hit and are out of the game, he said.
The woods and part of the ball field at Kineowatha Park will be used. Players especially like the wooded areas, Donald was told. Cardboard figures will be used to set a course if the event is held inside, he said.
On Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon, ages 11 and under may play; from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m., all ages will play, including families; 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. is for ages 11-14; 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. is for all ages; and from 7 to 9 p.m. is ages 14 and older.
The cost is $10 per hour, $17 for two hours and $25 for the day according to age qualifications. There is no charge for residents outside Wilton to enter Kineowatha for the laser tag, and other park activities will be open including the beach, tennis courts and recreation hall with videos. People may make a day of it, he said.
Donald was attending an annual recreation director meeting where G-Force Laser Tag was a vendor. After learning about what it does, he liked the idea but the $1,200 price tag to bring it here was daunting.
He mentioned it to the Wilton Recreation Committee and members jumped on board.
“ We’re stepping out on faith. It seems to be pretty popular and people seem to be excited,” he said.
A joust house will also be set up all day. It’s like a bouncy house with rubber disks and people battle with a soft pole trying to knock each other off, he said.
The day is open to anyone. Separate parking will be set up apart from other groups using the park that day, he said.
