Countryfolk Music Theatre’s Youth Music Scholarship fundraiser, featuring more than 50 volunteer musicians, will be held Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, Aug. 1, at the theater in East Dixfield. In the past several years, scholarships totaling more than $5,000 have been awarded to youth, according to event organizer Larry Bisbee. During the Saturday Country Jamboree a lineup of musicians will perform every half-hour beginning at 10 a.m., followed by guest performers PHAT Grass at 6 p.m. and a dance from 7-9 p.m. featuring Country Jim Palmer and Paula Kaiser with Owen Donnell on drums. Ginger Mae Dyer, Maine Country Music Hall of Famer, third from left, will perform at the jamboree and conduct a Countryfolk Cowboy Church service at 10 a.m. on Sunday as she did last summer with, from left, Ben Bowie of Carthage, “Cack” Bean of South Paris and Lonnie Blood of New Vineyard. There will be 15 gem and Maine mineral exhibitors, moose horn and antler displays, bullwhip demonstrations and prospecting exhibits from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the family event is free. It will be held rain or shine. Countryfolk’s usual country music jam session will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
