Hockey season is right around the corner and the people of this area must realize we have something right here in our backyard that everyone wants: Quebec Major Junior Hockey League hockey. The players are 16- to 20-year-olds who play hard game after game and will be a force this year and next.
People have to understand that the league is an instructional league and, unfortunately, once the kids are too old, the team has to replenish with younger players again and start the cycle all over. There might be a couple of trying years, but as the players get older, they become the better team.
People understand that in order to keep the team in Lewiston, the public needs to support the team through the lean years, as well as the good seasons.
Where would professional teams be if the fans decided to stop going because the team was losing?
Patience is a virtue.
