Open house

NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library will host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, to say farewell to Anne Campbell.

Campbell has been the Children’s Services Coordinator at the library for the past four years. She has made a significant contribution to the programs and the patrons in this time. Campbell and her family will move to Vermont during August where her husband has a new job.

There will also be opportunities to say goodbye during the Story Time on Wednesday, Aug. 4 and during the summer reading program celebration on Thursday, Aug. 12. For further information, call the library at 743-5300.

Bridge play

OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met on July 30 at the Oxford Community Rec Center. The winners were: first, Hank Sakrison and Denny Raymond; second, Penny and Bob Thomas; third, Lu Theriault and David Lock; fourth, Nancy and Larry Farmer.

The club meets at 9:15 a.m. Fridays, at the center. All are welcome to play. 

Church news

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Baptist Church will hold Sunday services at 9 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 10:30 a.m. A prayer meeting and Bible study will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and all are welcome to join. 

The church will join with the Mission Congregation for Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, Aug. 9 to 13. A closing program will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 13. 

The Mission Congregation Church will also have the annual outdoor service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at the Route 219 home of Dick and Janet Scott, followed by the annual picnic.

Society sale

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society reported that the recent hall and bake sale was a success and has scheduled a clearance sale, with new and discounted dollar bag items, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 7.

Clothing center

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 and 21. The clothing center is located on Church Street, directly opposite the Hartford Community Church.
