OTISFIELD — The products and services of local businessmen will be on display for the second year on Saturday at the Otisfield Neighborhood Networking Day.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Hall. It is designed to inform the public of small businesses in the town and allow business owners to connect with one another.
“It’s like the (Oxford Hills) business showcase, but on a smaller scale,” said Town Clerk Sharon Matthews.
Matthews said the networking day lets residents and summer visitors know what services and products are available locally. She is hoping that about 20 vendors will show up to run displays. People may also buy products from vendors.
This year the town has received several donations for a raffle, including gift certificates, handcrafted wooden pens, T-shirts and artwork. The town office is selling tickets for $1 apiece and six for $5. A drawing will be held on the day of the event, and proceeds from the raffle will go toward the renovation of the Community Hall.
In addition to the local businesses, the town has invited representatives from TD Bank, which handles municipal banking, as a support business. Matthews said an invitation has also been extended to FairPoint Communications, which worked to establish high-speed Internet in Otisfield.
Matthews said the town will create a directory of local businesses on its website in the future.
