PORTLAND — Robert J. Maki, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 1, at Birchwoods at Canco.
He was born in South Paris on Dec. 3, 1936, a son of the late John and Lempi (Kinnunen) Maki. He graduated from Norway High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked for four years at Wilner Wood Products, followed by Gallant & Raymond Funeral Home. Working the majority of his life as an accountant, first at Sanborn’s Motor Express for 20 years, then retiring from Magquire & Jones Steel Fabrication.
Bob served on the local AARP Board and was also a member of the Oriental Lodge No. 13 in Bridgton for 25 years, as well as the Finnish American Heritage Society in West Paris and the Finnish American Tourist Club in Lake Worth, Fla.
He is survived by his son, Jamie Maki and his wife, Marta, of Pasadena, Md.; his two grandchildren, Colin and Courtney Maki; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Seija (Makela) Maki; and five sisters, Anne, Sigrid, Ina, Lillian and Helen.
