Attend service
MINOT — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will attend the 9 a.m. service at the Minot Center Congregational Church on Sunday, Aug. 8. They are asked to be there by 8:45.
Following the service, a planning session for 2011 will be held, after which members will dine at noon at Cyndi’s Dockside Restaurant in Poland. All members and guests are welcome.
Grange fun night
AUBURN — Members of Excelsior Grange in Poland will are invited to a Fun Night on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Roy’s on Route 4.
Members should arrive at 4 p.m. for a round of miniature golf and then will order from the menu at Roy’s. There will be no regular meeting on this date.
Hike and bike
AUGUSTA — MaineShare’s annual Hike and Bike event will take place during August. The “smaller footprint” event allows participants to choose their own hike, bike ride or walk from anywhere while raising money for MaineShare.
The event will be held in a virtual format that will save time, paper, fuel and offer more flexibility for participants. With no expenses involved, every dollar raised will go to MaineShare.

Breastfeeding support
AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting, to be held at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome. The discussion will focus on “Breastfeeding: The Mother-Baby Relationship and the Weaning Process.”
All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call 782-6645.
Nomination papers
SABATTUS — Nomination papers will be available on Monday, Aug. 9, at the Sabattus Town Office, for the following elected positions: two Selectmen/Assessor/Overseer of the Poor, one RSU Director, one Sabattus Water District Trustee and two Budget Committee members. Each office is for a term of three years.
Kid safe event
AUBURN — A Kid Safe ID program will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, and again from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Florian’s Market, 301 Main St.
The Auburn Police Department will put the child’s information and a picture of the child on a rewritable disk. Parents will be able to update the information using the same disk.
