PORTLAND — Barry C. Cummings, 53, of Scarborough, formerly of Long Beach, Calif., and Springfield, Mass., died Aug. 2.
He grew up in Springfield, Mass., and lived in Southern California for many years before moving to Maine. He was a graduate of Long Beach City College and a licensed small airplane pilot. He worked for Con-Way Freight for many years. He was active in the local community with his son Henry’s Little League baseball, football and gymnastics programs.
He loved all kinds of music, his many dear friends in Maine and at Sandy Island, and the light of his life, his son, Henry.
He was the loving and devoted father of Henry Cummings of Scarborough; beloved son of Anne Cummings of Agawam, Mass., and the late John Douglas Cummings of Charlestown, Mass.; devoted brother of Jack Cummings of Brookline and Emily Cummings of Boston, Mass.; and beloved brother-in-law of Joan Lautenschleger of Brookline. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Maine, cousins in Brookline, Mass., and California, along with his former wife, Teresa, of Scarborough.
