Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 3 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, David Lock and Fred Letourneau; second, Richard Balian and Bailey Geeslin; third, Tom Collins and Patricia Quinn; fourth, Nancy Lindgren and Nancy Farmer.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Richard Balian and Bailey Geeslin; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. Flight C winners were Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the center.

The club also met on Aug. 4 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Flight A winners were: first, Mike and Pat Quinn; second, John Hackett and Leslie Buzzell; third, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; fourth, Fred Letourneau and David Lock. Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at all games.

Yard sale

NORTH TURNER — The Bear Pond Improvement Association members have been collecting household items for their annual yard sale to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Bear Pond beach, next door to the Turner Public Beach, Route 219. The rain date will be Aug. 21.

Early birds are welcome, but will be charged a $2 fee if they wish to purchase items prior to 9 a.m. Hot dogs and beverages will be available for purchase during the yard sale.

The yard sale will benefit the Bear Pond Protection Fund, which enables the association to monitor the pond for water quality, erosion concerns, invasive plant life and any other threat to the natural ecosystem of the pond.

DAR to meet

SABATTUS — Members of Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the home of Jayne Bickford. Following a business meeting, the program “What a Paine in the Neck!” will be presented. Light refreshments will follow.
