Jeff Parsons talks with youths from the Auburn Recreation Summer Camp on canoe basics while paddling along the Androscoggin River in Auburn on Thursday. Parsons, the owner of Bethel Outdoor Adventure & Campground in Bethel, provided canoes for 21 seventh- and eighth-graders during the paddle from the boat launch on North River Road to the David Rancourt River Preserve in Lewiston and back. The trip was one of two events held during the 16th stage of the 15th Annual Source to the Sea Canoe Trek. Jonathan LaBonte, the executive director of the Androscoggin Land Trust, helped guide the two river trips.
