RUMFORD – Elaine S. “Tootie” DiConzo, 77, of Blayne Street, in Dixfield, died Saturday evening, Aug. 7, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Dixfield, on Nov. 24, 1932, a daughter of Reny “Buster” and Beryl S. (McIntire) Stewart.
Tootie was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1951.
She was employed as a teacher at Dixfield Head Start for two years, but most of her life she was a stay-at-home mom.
Tootie was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She was a member of the Dixfield Mothers Club and The Sons of Italy.
She loved her Thursday night bocce at the Sons of Italy with all of her friends, gardening and watching the Boston Red Sox.
Tootie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will also be remembered for her love of animals and was always feeding the squirrels, cats and birds.
Surviving are her four children, Michael J. DiConzo and wife, Joanne, of Dixfield, Deborah Mooney and husband, John P., of Peru, Pamela Jensen and husband, Larry, of Union and Stephen DiConzo and wife, Mary Theresa, of North Weymouth, Mass.; two sisters, Brenda Jarvis and husband, David, of Dixfield and Caroline Smith and husband, Wesley, of Dixfield; a brother, Clifford “Cuffy” Stewart and wife, Joyce, of Mexico; five grandchildren, Patrick Mooney, Kayla Jensen, Kacie Jensen, Justin DiConzo and Natalie DiConzo; and a great-grandson, Cameron Jensen.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph DiConzo; and a son, Jeffery DiConzo.
