MADISON – Eugene A. Grover, 79, a former resident of Jay, died Saturday morning, Aug.7, at Maple Crest Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Madison.

He was born on April 29, 1931, in Kingfield, N.H., the son of Glenn and Florence (Copp) Grover. He attended school in Farmington. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the State of Connecticut as a machinist for 10 years and later for Knox Machine Shop in Pennsylvania until his retirement in 1987, due to disability. He was married to Mary LaPenta from Brooklyn, N.Y., from 1954 to 1979. Eugene later met June Robinson Cook and they were companions until her death in 2005. Eugene was a member of the Henderson Memorial Church in Farmington. He was a lifetime member of the Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335 VFW in Jay and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Grover of Middletown, Conn.; and his sister, Mirna Pomerleau of North Anson; and half sister, Emma Peterson of Middletown, Conn.; half brothers, Ralph Corbett of North Anson, Don Lothrop of Oxford, Samuel Collins of Canaan and Paul Webster.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Grover; his brother, Robert Grover in 1993; and half brother, Bill Corbett; and his half sister, Barbara Deroche.
