Yard sale

SOUTH PARIS — The First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, Aug. 14. Church members and friends have donated many items for sale with all proceeds going to help the church carry out their mission in the community.

It will start around 8 a.m. and will continue through the early afternoon. There will be hand tools, furniture and many other items. Coffee and doughnuts will be available in the morning and cold drinks and hot dogs mid-day. It will be held rain or shine.

Fair events

WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair will host a dance at the fairgrounds on Saturday, Aug. 14, with music by the Dirigo Highway Band. Dancing will start at 8 p.m. Cost is $10 each person.

A thank-you barbecue will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, to thank all the volunteers who helped to make the fair a success. The fair has recently purchased a mobile food shack and will use it for the first time to make hamburgers, hot dogs, onion rings, french fries and fried dough.

Everyone that helped with the fair is welcome to attend the cookout and then attend the regular fair meeting which will follow the cookout. Attendees should bring a salad or a dessert to share and their own beverage.

Public supper, auction

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church will have its annual public supper and silent auction on Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Hartford Town Hall on Route 140.

Supper will begin at 5 p.m., with bidding going on all during the supper. Cost is $6; $3 for 12 and under. To donate auction items, call Arlene at 224-7355.

Bridge results

OXFORD HILLS — The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met Aug. 6 at the Oxford Community Center, with seven full tables. Coming in first North/South were: Dick Allen and Richard Balian with a 71 percent game; second, Nancy Farmer and Pat Quinn; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn.

First in B, North/South were: Pam and Errol Libby; second, Bill Tedford and David Kallander. First in East/West were: Penny and Bob Thomas; second, Carol Curran and Barbara Dodge; third, Jona Julinski and Jim Card.

All new players are welcome as well as any interested card players. For lessons, call Pat Quinn at 539-8991.
