Could any Auburn city official explain why the street sweeper goes by my house, sweeping the street that was done just one month ago? The machine goes back and forth six times on a street that has already been done.
City officials claimed recently that they were trying to save the city some money.
Last week, I saw the same street sweeper on Minot Avenue again. Is there something there that the taxpayers are not seeing?

Editor’s note: According to Auburn Public Works Deputy Director Denis D’Auteuil, the Public Works crews sweep the area of the Poland Road more frequently than other roads in town because vehicles traveling to the MMWAC facility inadvertently drop debris that needs to be cleared from the roadway. When the department is aware of debris in the area, trucks often sweep side streets, where Mr. Leavitt lives, as they clean Poland Road to ensure blowing debris is collected.
