RUMFORD — Anne Wood and Joe Sirois were married on July 17 at Black Mountain of Maine. The Rev. John Gensel officiated over a brief, joyful ceremony attended by a gathering of the couple’s friends and family. An afternoon reception followed at the lodge.
The bride’s sisters, Catherine Wood Brooks of Worcester, Mass., and Monica Wood of Portland, served as matrons of honor. Wil Sirois of Scarborough stood as best man for his brother. The bridegroom’s son-in-law, James Mills of Fresno, Calif., escorted the bridegroom’s mother, Yvette Sirois of Augusta, to her seat of honor, and Mark Brooks, the bride’s brother-in-law, did the same for Betty Wood, sister of the bride.
The bride’s brother, Barry Wood of Jay, escorted his sister down the aisle to a guitar rendition of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy,” played by the bride’s brother-in-law, Dan Abbott, and family friend, Bob Thompson. Mark Brooks read a passage from Corinthians and the matrons of honor sang the Robert Burns poem “A Red, Red Rose” in an arrangement composed by Monica Wood and played by Dan Abbott and Bob Thompson.
The bridegroom is executive director for Hope Association.
The bride is a retired English and French teacher who taught for many years in Rumford and Mexico.
After a honeymoon at Lake Umbagog and Ogunquit, the couple returned to their home at 307 Swain Road in Rumford.
