Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 10 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry; second, Tom Collins and Lucille Theriault; third, Linda Leotsakos and Jan Arey; fourth, Nancy Lindgren and Liz Cross; fifth, Ron and Connie Reynolds.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Winners in Flight C were Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the center.

The club also met on Aug. 11 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Flight A winners were: first, Leslie Buzzell and John Hackett; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird. Flight B winners were Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird. Another game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18.

New Auburn seniors

AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors will attend a summer picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Hasty Community Center.

A regular meeting was held on Aug. 4, with President Virginia Levasseur presiding. August birthdays were noted and small gifts were given. Pot of gold winners were Lorraine Bell, Cecile Picard, Pauline Rancourt, Ginger Levasseur, Jeannine Grondin and Sandy Verreault; 50/50, Lucille Dick.

John and Betty Spugnardi and Tina Boone were welcomed as new members. The meeting was adjourned and a light lunch and bingo followed.

CNA course

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult Education will offer a CNA course to provide the skills and experience to be a Maine State Certified Nursing Assistant. Nurse’s aide skills will be taught in an interactive classroom setting with hands-on clinical experience to follow. The course will focus on nursing theory and application, including basic anatomy, physiology and clinical performance.

The class will begin the week of Sept. 14. For an application, call the office at 225-3478. Only completed applications will be considered. Slots are limited.

First Auburn seniors

AUBURN — The First Auburn Seniors will meet for a summer picnic Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Hasty Community Center. Doors will open and 9 a.m. and lunch will be at noon. The event will be shared with the New Auburn Seniors. Card games will be played before the lunch, which will include hamburgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob. Bingo will follow.

On Aug. 4, 64 members attended the regular meeting led by President Angie Jipson. Attendance winners were Virginia Hyam and Ellie Rolerson; pot of gold, Felix Yurkston, Virginia Hyam and George Herrick Sr. Diane Vincent was welcomed as a new member.

Plans are in the making for a new fundraising event, starting with the first meeting in September. Betty Hebert will be in charge.
