JAY — A Livermore Falls man is charged with breaking into a home and stealing a hot water tank and hot water heating system, police said Tuesday.

Travis White, 40, was arrested Friday on charges of burglary and theft stemming from an incident at an East Jay home, police Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said Tuesday. He said damage to the home is estimated at $5,000.

Police are unsure when the residence was burglarized because the homeowners were away, but the complaint was made July 27, Fournier said.

Officer Russell Adams’ investigation led to the arrest at White’s home in Livermore Falls. White, an unemployed paper mill worker, was released from the Franklin County Detention Center on Saturday on $2,500 cash bail, according to records.

Some items have been recovered, Fournier said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call officer Adams at 897-6766.
