Matthew Hatch of South Paris selected two books, “Skippy Jon Jones in Mummy Trouble” and “The Golden Compass,” after completing 1,000 minutes of reading as a participant in Paris Public Children’s Library summer reading challenge. Hatch is one of many who have read 1,000 to 1,500 minutes or more. The reading challenge ends on Saturday, Aug. 21, when all reading logs are due at the Paris Public Library in order to tally up each participant’s minutes to identify the top five readers, each of whom will receive a $25 gift certificate.
