LIVERMORE FALLS — Jackie Knight was appointed to the school board Monday and intends to run for election to the post in November, Town Manager James D. Chaousis II said Tuesday.
Knight succeeds Malcolm Haynes, who resigned from the Regional School Unit 36 Board of Directors last week. Selectmen accepted the resignation with regret at their meeting Thursday.
They named Knight to fill in in the interim.
Knight, a former school board director and former selectman, requested the appointment, Chaousis said.
Nomination papers are available at the town office at 2 Main St. They must be returned to the town office by 4 p.m. Sept. 24, if the candidate’s name is to appear on the Nov. 2 ballot.
The director’s term will be from Nov. 3, 2010, to June 30, 2012.
