AUBURN – Auburn Parks and Recreation is currently accepting registrations from students entering grades 1 through 8 for youth football.
Flag football for first and second-graders will start the second week of September and will place an emphasis on fun and learning the basics of the game. Grade 3 and Grades 4-6 teams are now part of the Maine Youth Football League and will begin practices the week of August 16.
The Grades 7-8 Falcons will form varsity and junior varsity squads to compete in the highly spirited and competitive Western Maine Football league and will practice three to four days a week. The game schedule begins in early September and continues for a seven or eight-game season.
To be eligible to participate, participants must pass a physical examination for contact sports administered by their family physician or other qualified individual. A physical is good for two years. Uniforms and protective equipment (except cup and mouth guard) are provided.
It is not too late to register. Go to the office at 48 Pettengill Park Road to sign up.
